James Blake Covers Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You”

James Blake is one of my favourite new artists of 2011. His debut album is smooth, sexy, unconventional and unique. BBC Radio 1 always offers amazing covers by bands and artists but this one is more breathtaking than usual due to the song Blake covered, Joni Mitchell’s 1971 classic, “A Case of You.”  Mitchell is one of the most acclaimed lyricists of the past 100 years and this cover only further proves that as the forty year old song remains as emotional, relevant, and beautiful today. Blake is without electronic’s on this cover, just his vocals and piano. Blake has one of the most impressive male voices in mainstream music today, sounding fragile, but strong and honest. This song will be played over and over again by me. It stole my breath and conjure up emotions.
